Jennifer Fulwiler penned an excellent column the other day that asks the right questions: This weekend the Wall Street Journal ran an article by Kay S. Hymowitz in which she asked: “Where have all the good men gone?” She wrote: Not so long ago, the average American man in his 20s had achieved most of [...]

…leads? I was a young(er), inexperienced pastor, and befriended two church members. Both were long-timers, very active, seemed like good folks. As I got to know them better, I got the message very clearly from “Suzy”: she was really frustrated with “Bill,” because Bill just wouldn’t lead. Suzy made this known in many ways, over [...]

From the Culpeper (VA) Star-Exponent: Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood with this policy in mind: People she believed to be unfit or unworthy should have their babies weeded out, and those whom she believed to be fit should flourish. In an article Sanger wrote in 1921 titled, “The Eugenic Value of Birth Control Propaganda,” she [...]

It seems to me this would be a no-brainer in a world where rational, thinking, moral people oppose violence against women. But, somehow, if it’s a “sport,” we’re supposed to let our boys tackle/pin/etc. young women and desensitize themselves (and ourselves) to such violence. I can only shake my head. Good for Joel Northrup. He [...]

Lee Ann Garfias has written an excellent review of a new Bible curriculum and addresses the importance of not censoring Scripture for our children but giving them the whole counsel of God: Sin, grace, salvation, and the cross are not “adult concepts” but are rather part of the gospel message preached to all. But Jesus [...]

From the Milwaukee Journal: As we mark yet another anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, we pause to take a numbing reality check. Since abortion was legalized in this country 38 years ago, more than 53 million preborn children have been slaughtered through induced abortion. Beyond the recorded numbers, we can only imagine the additional hundreds [...]

It seems utterly impossible. For 15 years I have shared my life, my bed, my world with an amazing man. And while he is still “just a man,” I often wonder how people can walk away from marriage after so many years of sharing their lives in such an intimate way. When Jenny mentioned seeing [...]

Shades of Greece? The president of a pro-life organization in Argentina is warning that current policies promoting birth control will prevent the country from maintaining a 2.1 annual replacement index. Roberto Castellano of Pro-Vida said on Feb. 7 the country’s aging population will have a negative impact on Argentina’s economy. Castellano said that the country’s [...]

There is an excellent piece on Slate this week that demonstrates how feminism finds “gender imbalance” where none exists in order to encourage a victim mentality and a sense of entitlement where no harm has been done: New York Times executive editor Bill Keller announced last week at the National Press Club that news from [...]

I purchased an art instruction book while traipsing through First Monday in Canton last month. I think it cost me a dollar if I remember correctly. I perused it briefly and it contained many of the basics, everything from, “First considerations” and “The Essential Equipment” to instruction in free-hand perspective, cast drawing, life drawing, architectural [...]

The clandestine videos were shot at Planned Parenthood clinics in New Jersey, New York and Virginia from Jan. 11 to 14, according to Live Action. Rep. Mike Pence, R.-Ind., called for passage of his bill, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, to eliminate federal funds for Planned Parenthood after the first video was released…. [...]

Once upon a time, there were two women attending a conference. After one of the sessions, the speaker called all of the women in attendance to bow their heads and pray. One of the women bowed her covered head, lowered her unpainted eyes, and clasped her work-worn hands in front of her: “God, I thank [...]

From Carolyn Moynihan: Many young adults believe that they will have a better marriage if they try out some components of marital life first, but the opposite effect is more likely. For example, a new study shows that couples who keep sexual intercourse for marriage then have a significantly better relationship…. Lead study author Dean [...]

An excellent, thought-provoking piece from Valerie at In Faith and Purity: Let’s be clear and make no confusion about my heart on this. I am not saying at all that if you use birth control of any kind, you are pro-abortion. I know many different families with many different views on children, and I know [...]
