Celebrate Life

I begin my life journey at the moment of conception

I am a single celled, tiny human being

My name is zygote , which means, "Yoked" in Greek

Do you know?

By now I already inherited 23 chromosomes and 50,000 genes from each parent

And my sex and unique genetic and physical characteristics are determined!

In 10 days, I travel and implant into my mothers’ womb,

The best place God created for my protection and nourishment

At 8 weeks, my heartbeat begins

At 9 weeks, I can bend fingers around to grab an object

I sometimes start thumb sucking as early as 7 weeks!

By 14 weeks, fingerprints have formed on my hands

At 20 weeks, I can hear my mother's heartbeat

At seven months, I begin to do stretching and kicking,

I am getting ready to see the world that awaits me

During the ninth month, I begin to gain weight rapidly

At birth, I bring joy and happiness to my family.

I used to be valued and cherished in India, but not any more.

I tell you the untold truth:

Not long ago, few feminists envisioned a social re-engineering in the west

They sold lies that family and motherhood are a form of slavery,

Inspired many women to trade

Family for fulfilling career,

Marriage for casual relationships,

Interdependence for independence,

Procreation for pleasure,

Social good for radical individualism,

Self-sacrifice for self-indulgence and abstinence for fornication.

They said, "Women can have it all"--except family and children.

They twisted science and said the Fetus is not a human being;

They devised methods to choke and starve me to death;

They called a gruesome murder an "Abortion"  --

Later re-worded it as "reproductive rights" and "reproductive freedom";

After all, everyone wants to fight for rights and freedoms!

Since then millions of unborn lives were expended to protect reproductive rights!

India has made a choice to blindly follow the folly of the west,

Celebrating life by terminating innocent life;

Shedding crocodile tears for female infanticide.

India, a home for billion people,

Why have you forgotten your values?

You are alive today because your parents celebrated your life at the womb.

Give ear to my silent cry;

Give me a chance to live;

I promise I will bring joy and happiness in your life.

You will find fulfillment and purpose in your life as I grow in your care.

I could be the one who would change the destiny of your country.

I wrote this poem to show the preciousness of human life in the womb. I wrote this in the context of my country, India, where an estimated 25 million babies are murdered every year. I am a regular visitor of your website, I thank God for your work and for speaking truth and defending Biblical values. ~ A. Pauldurai, Christian from India, father of two boys
