Should I vote for Sarah Palin?

This was written not to convince anyone but myself.  After praying the night before with my husband about what we would do, I awoke the next morning and wrote this out.  We shared arguments for both voting for Sarah Palin and not voting for her.  I feel that the Lord shared with me principles and truths from his word that allowed me to see things clearer.  I'd like to share these with LAF's readers as a journal entry the morning after seeking God's wisdom.

Who is Sarah Palin's head?

Todd Palin.

She is to honor and respect him.  How much say so will he have over her life?  If he doesn't want her to go to Europe, would she really not go? Can she serve the country and serve her husband at the same time? Her husband can not possibly be head over her during her time as vice president. His wishes will become obsolete for the most part. He may be her companion, but not her head as the bible teaches husbands are to be over their wives.

When the two are at odds, the wishes of McCain and the wishes of Todd Palin, whom would she obey?  If she wanted to keep her job and fulfill her duties as Vice President, she would have to obey McCain. Todd Palin would basically become a lame duck. Will this bring glory and honor to God?  Todd represents the headship of Christ over the Church. Is it ever Okay for Christ to be a lame duck and allow the church to follow the lead of another? No! The Church is married to Christ. The Church submits to Christ. We have no other head. Will a nation who has this lame duck example before them do that nation good? This example will do far more harm than whatever good Palin could do as vice president.

This is a feminist example set before our children's eyes. Will my girls strive toward motherhood and building a home under this example, or will they see higher ground ahead, more honor, more power, more prestige? A wife's efforts should be toward building up her husband and completing him, and this builds up a nation. This is a very important role. Working within the framework of God-ordained authority is biblical and honored by God.

Lord, thank you for making this clear to me.  I feel confident that voting for Palin would be not treating her as I would want to be treated:

1.  I would be putting her in a position to have to function outside her God-ordained authority.

2.  My vote would make Palin's husband a lame duck in matters of Sarah's life.  His wishes will ultimately die to the wishes of McCain and others running the country.

3. Her relationship with Todd would be a perverted example of Christ's relationship to the church. This will not build up the body of Christ ( much more important than social strides of being the first woman vice president)

4.  I would be putting Palin in a position to neglect her highest calling as mother and wife in exchange for a lower position as Vice President.  Her generational impact would probably be far greater over time investing in being there for her children and teaching them diligently from home.

I've heard people state the case for Palin in that God works in mysterious ways and likes to surprise us.  I think the most mysterious way God has given is the impact one woman can have carrying out her duties faithfully as wife and mother under the headship of her husband and her Lord. It surprises me to see woeful, sinful creatures as myself transformed and used by God to affect generations to come. Just look at the lineage of  Jonathan and Sarah Edwards. Their fruit bore witness of God's favor upon this couple. This is amazing.

I will not vote to put Sarah Palin in such a position.  My conscience won't allow me.  I will vote for the godliest man I can find, and leave the results up to Almighty God.
