Who am I Supposed to Be?!
Posted By Jasmine Baucham on August 10, 2010
Are you so anxious to embrace “biblical womanhood” that you would take the thing you’re most passionate about and watch it go up in flames because the most popular blogger tells you it isn’t domestic enough -because you read a book that seemed to imply that your talent was useless if it didn’t contribute to your home’s decor -because you think that’s what’s going to attract the kind of man you’re looking for?
If not, Who am I Supposed to Be?! may not be of interest to you (in fact, if you have already embraced the fact that “biblical femininity” is more about the posture of your heart than a worn-out stereotype, it may seem like I’m beating a dead horse here). If, however, you are a young woman who:
- Tries to stay up on the current trends of stay-at-home daughterhood by reading as many blogs and articles as possible, just to keep on the right path…
- Is more likely to read a blog to get an opinion than to go to the Word of God and ask your own family…
- Wishes she had been born with different, more feminine and domestic gifts…
- Is not sure who the Lord has called her to be or how he can use her in the sphere of her home…
- Has gotten frustrated with the whole “at home” thing because it seems to be all about fitting into a sweet little mold…
- And finds herself losing the joy of Christ (isn’t really as joyfully at home as she is just at home)…
I want to tell you that I’ve been there, and share some of the lessons I’ve learned about being the woman the Lord has called me to be -home-girl and all.

I loved reading your article! Women should be more focused on the heart attitude, it’s not all about having crazy domestic skills. I think it’s important to be able to take care of your home and family and yourself and use the skills you have to do that.
I’m not the typical “ideal” domestic woman. I’m artsy and offbeat, and while I love the domestic arts and crafting, I could never sew my family’s clothes or can a whole garden’s worth of tomatoes for the winter. But I’m feminine and I want to love my husband and kids, and keep our home in the best way that I can.
