American Life League and 26 other pro-life organizations have joined together for “Protest the Pill Day: The Pill Kills the Environment” on June 5.

At the national event launch at 11 a.m. outside of Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., Dr. James Joyce, M.D., Jennifer Giroux, R.N., and pro-life activists Marie Hahnenberg, Michael Hichborn and Katie Walker will testify to the harmful effects birth control has on our environment and our health.

The event will draw attention to the environmental and health hazards of the nation’s most commonly used contraceptive method – the birth control pill – which turns 50 years old this year…. I’m so glad that I recently found the LAF website. The wonderful articles are helping me so much!

I must admit that since I’ve been married (7 years) that I’ve always had a little voice in the back of my mind that was worried about BC pill and what would happen if I got pregnant, etc. But, I just ignored that voice b/c everyone gets on the pill eventually and women have been taking it forever, doctor says it’s fine, RIGHT? What’s the alternavtive – have 20 children? Why wouldn’t I take it? I’m an important, highly educated career woman who will have children when I choose! Wow. I was so arrogant, prideful, and I accepted the lies b/c they fit MY plan. I did get pregnant while on the BC pill last year with baby #2. Thank the good Lord that she is healthy. But, ever since I found out that I was pregnant with her, I’ve been listening to that voice. Turns out that it was the Holy Spirit trying to get me to listen. You would not believe the change of heart I’ve had in one year. Praise God for his grace. I gave up my career and answered the call to serve Him at home. I’m still trying to figure it all out but I thank God everyday for knowing my heart and what would make me whole even when I was too blinded by feminism to see it for myself.

I wish more people understood the environmental hazards of using contraceptives like the Pill. Not just that but also how it affects a woman’s body and her spiritual life. Janet Smith did a great piece on the effects of contraception that everyone should read: http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/sexuality/se0002.html
After I saw this on TV and listened to the hour long program I marched to my medicine cabinet and thew away my prescription for the Pill. I have never looked back and I could not be more happily married. I stopped fearing pregnancy and losing control of my life. I feel that I am truly liberated by God’s plan for me. I just wish I had listened to God sooner. Thank-you for this article.

Great to hear this! I am not against women using birth control within the context of marriage, especially in cases when a pre-existing condition would make pregnancy extremely dangerous, but “the pill” is certainly not the way to do this! There are effective, safe, natural alternatives that do not pose such a health risk to the mother and child if the pill doesn’t work properly.
