Letter: Abortion is the most lucrative birth control
Posted By Jennie Chancey on September 6, 2011
This cogent letter to the editor highlights a startling fact that you aren’t going to hear in the mainstream news: Planned Parenthood’s own research demonstrates that greater contraceptive use does not reduce abortion. We’ve said it before: “Follow the money.” PP stands to make millions of dollars (including out of the taxpayer’s pocket) as the leading abortion provider in the US, so they have no real incentive to prevent unplanned pregnancies.
I am responding to the “so-called” efforts by Planned Parenthood to prevent unplanned pregnancies.
As a younger woman of the post-Roe era, and the result of an unplanned pregnancy of a mother in her 40s with five already-grown children, I am very interested in this subject because it affects my generation — many of whom are missing from our society.
A new study published on Aug. 24 by the former research arm of Planned Parenthood, The Guttmacher Institute, conclusively refutes the idea that artificial contraception reduces unplanned pregnancy and abortion. http://www.guttmacher.org/media/nr/2011/08/24/index.html.
Steven Ertelt of Lifenews.com wrote, “Planned Parenthood and abortion advocates successfully lobbied…to shift taxpayer funding from abstinence education to family planning, arguing it will decrease abortions further. Yet…a majority of abortions took place after contraception failure.” http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/25/study-birth-control-not-stopping-unplanned-pregnancies-abortions/
Read the entire letter at THIS LINK. Excellent.
