Submit an Article!

Please note that LAF currently has over 60 articles awaiting perusal/editing/posting. It does take a while to get through them all. Thanks for your patience and understanding! If you already had something awaiting posting and have not heard from us, it may be that you forgot to put your e-mail address on your submission. We cannot publish articles unless we are able to contact the original author to confirm permission to print. Please feel free to resubmit your article with the e-mail address in the Summary box (we won't publish it--we just need it to get in touch!). Thanks!

We love to hear from authors who are interested in publishing their articles or book reviews on LAF. If you are not a writer but have run across an article elsewhere that you feel would be interesting to LAF's readers, you can submit the URL (internet address) for the article to us.

To submit an article or URL, click on this link to get to our handy-dandy Article Manager login form. Type in the username "guest" and the password "guest." When you are successfully logged in, you will see a form titled "Create Article." Simply use the fields at the top to enter the name of the article, its author, and which category it should go in. Next, you can enter the full text of an original article in the "Content" box. If you are submitting a web address for an article on another site, copy and paste the URL from your browser into the URL line. If you wish, add a short description of the article to the "Summary" box. [Note: If you are submitting an original article, please be sure to put your name and e-mail address in the "Summary" box, so we can reach you! We cannot accept original submissions that do not contain the author's e-mail address, since we have no way of knowing if the actual author has given permission to print the work.] Click "save." Log off when you are finished, and that's all there is to it! As we have time, we will review new article submissions and publish appropriate ones to the site. We reserve the right to edit all submissions before posting to the site. [Please note: We cannot reprint articles that have been typed in from copyrighted books or magazines. We must have the author's permission to do so first. If you are not the original author, please ask for permission before you submit an article from a copyrighted publication.]

Writer's Guidelines

LAF follows the Chicago Manual of Style rules for grammar and punctuation. You can search the Manual online if you have questions about grammatical issues. Following is a short list of basic rules to keep in mind:

  1. Place a single space between sentences. Double spacing isn't necessary on a computer, and it actually makes more work on our end, since we have to remove the spaces. :-)
  2. Place punctuation marks within quotation marks (e.g. "Where did Helen go?" rather than "Where did Helen go"?). There are some exceptions, but they are few and far between, and you can learn about them in the Manual if you wish.
  3. Avoid passive voice at all costs (e.g. "I am being" instead of "I am" or "I was going" instead of "I went").

In general, we look for articles covering a variety of issues related to feminism and womanhood. This includes commentaries, personal testimonies, inspirational essays, practical helps on homemaking, thoughts on child-rearing, and more. Articles should be at least 500 words but no more than 2,000. Please keep in mind that LAF's audience is broad and includes many working women. We are not here to slam women stuck in the workforce but to encourage them and inspire them as they seek to return home. Remember that there are people caught in all kinds of situations who would wholeheartedly embrace what LAF promotes if they could find a way to do so. We don't accept articles that would intentionally wound women in those situations. And while we have many, many articles on motherhood and parenting, we want to acknowledge that there are many childless women out there who also need encouragement as they seek to fulfill their God-given role in life. We'd like to see more articles from women struggling with barrenness, working through an adoption, or seeking other ways to positively influence the next generation.

As we have funds, we can pay $20 for original (never published elsewhere) articles, or the author can choose a gift from the Support LAF page. We do not retain rights to original articles published on LAF. They are the sole property of the author. The copyright notice on our site is just to keep others from taking an author's work and publishing it elsewhere without permission.

It has been so encouraging to hear from ladies all over the world who enjoy writing and can share with LAF readers. Please keep the good work coming!
