Study Shows Christian Kids Becoming Secular Humanists

Christian Schools and Public Schools

The Nehemiah Institute has conducted the PEERS Worldview test on kids from Christian families for over 25 years.  Year after year, these “Christian” kids attending “Christian” schools and Public schools test lower and lower on the worldview scale. They have less adherence to a Christian worldview and more adherence to a secular humanist worldview.  The only group registering any improvement are homeschooled children.  Dan Smithwick has been faithfully administering this test, and witnessing the destruction of the Christian faith amongst our young people.  The problem is severe, and Christian churches and families should take note, or there will be few Christians left in another ten years.

Swanson: There is a concerted effort friends, on the part of very smart, very powerful men, intellectuals, and political movers and shakers that control the national education association and other very very powerful organizations that will turn your children into apostates, that will be sure that your children will abandon the faith and will be secularists by the year 2020 or 2025. And of course I detail some of those strategies in my book Apostate: The Men Who Destroyed The Christian West. But what we’re seeing here is the true effect of these men’s work and it’s pretty impressive what they have done.

Smithwick: I like to say that the PEERS Chart showed how successful these men were because this is what they wanted to have happen. Going back to John Dewy, this is exactly what John Dewy wanted, a de-Christianized classroom and now we’ve given that to him.

Swanson: Give us a brief contrast between secular humanism or Marxism and a christian worldview.

Smithwick: When someone takes the PEERS test and we get the score card back we will rate them into one of four worldview categories for classification. Biblical theism on the top, moderate Christians in the middle, which we say is kinda “one foot in the kingdom, one foot in the world,” the third is secular humanism, and the lowest is socialism. And here is how we distinguish the three primary views of that. Biblical theism, God is God. The God of the Bible is our God. Moderate Christians? Combination. Man is God and God is God. We think we’re sovereign. We think we have the ability and the right to be sovereign over things. And the Third is man is god himself. There is no God. That’s humanism. That is the John Dewy’s of the world. There’s no God up there it’s just man. Whatever we decide ourselves, that is what makes it right. And the fourth the lowest which we classify as socialism, we say now the state is God. So we go from “God is God” [to]”God and man is god” [to]  “Man is god” and [to] “The state is god.”

Swanson: And that becomes the most dangerous of all because any time you turn the state into God, you’re going to wind up with some form of that like Nazism, or Communism, and has been extremely, extremely evil and destructive to many, many, many lives.

Smithwick: The tyranny the many many nations have experienced over thousands of years, great pain, that is where America is headed based on the worldview shift that we see, especially with the current generation of young people.

Swanson: Are you going to stick with this for a long time? Are you going to stick with this program?

Smithwick: It certainly is my intent that this is going to continue and take America into the 21st century. We have some thoughts and plans in motion which will continue on beyond myself which I believe needs to happen because there needs to be a whole new generation that can help turn the trend back to where it needs to be. Back to where it was 3 or 400 years ago.

Swanson: I have to tell you that there is one positive not on your chart, that while the christian kids attending christian schools and public schools are going down, down, down, down, down. They are systematically being destroyed by the millions. And perhaps by the 10’s of millions. But, there is one positive element on this chart Dan, and that is that, well, christian worldview kids attending those schools have done well but, homeschools have improved over the last ten years. That is interesting.
