School Shooting Caused by Sinful Soul, Not Imbalanced Brain
Posted By Kelly Reins on December 18, 2012
“For years the schools have been teaching the children that evil does not reside in their souls. Therefore, evil is now, by default, circumstantial. According to this misguided worldview, there must have been something circumstantially that caused Adam Lanza to shoot innocent school children. His parents were divorced. He had access to guns that should have been limited. He had Asperger’s Syndrome, an autistic disorder. Man is always looking for an excuse outside himself until he faces the demons in his own soul,” said Dr. Foster.

National Review Online had a great comment by Charlotte Allen who pointed out that not one adult male was on the school premises when the shooting occurred. How far would the shooter have gotten had the principal and school psychologist been men? Or the teachers?
In no way, do I excuse Adam Lanza for his heinous crime. Of course, it is both sinful and unlawful. But aren’t some of the things that Dr. Marshall Foster mentioned in the article as excuses for Adam Lanza’s murders part of our sin nature?
Our brains are organs, just like our hearts, pancreases, or livers. So why would it be impossible that a brain could have a chemical imbalance leading to Asperger’s Syndrome, just like a pancreas can fail to produce insulin and render a person diabetic?
Divorce is obviously part of our sin nature, isn’t it?
And why on earth would Adam’s mother have more firearms in her home than she could ever need for her self-defense? I am not arguing against the right to bear arms here, just that she might have all these weapons in her home out of her out-of-control fear. Fear because of recent actions occurring because of our sin nature, such as the shootings in the Aurora, CO movie theater, or the Sikh temple in the Milwaukee, WI area, just to name two.
