What Can We Do?
Stop MTV Campaign
This link takes you to a site that is starting a grass roots effort to remove MTV from the airwaves. In the name of "art," this channel has worked consistently to remove all standards of decency from the lives of children and to call sexual exploitation "freedom."

What Can We Do to Promote Beautiful Womanhood?
Obviously, the most important thing any of us can do is to exhibit beautiful, biblical womanhood in our own lives by our conduct, our dress, our speech and our demeanor. Fulfilling the commands of Scripture for women with joy and grace is the best "advertisement" for biblical womanhood there is! But we think there are some things that LAFers can do to especially encourage womanliness and set a godly example for the world. Our ideas will appear in this section, and we would love to hear your ideas for making womanhood beautiful to the world! Please share!

What Can We Do?
Let's reach out our hands...

AP Photo

The images of the past week will linger in my memory, burned there with the anguish the countless mothers and families felt as they searched the ruins for their loved ones. One cry I can never forget is an Indonesian woman wailing, "Where are my gems? My precious jewels?" She had lost all 11 of her children in the tsunami. This story isn't just one you can post and forget about. It certainly will (and should) overshadow anything else posted here this week. The sheer numbers leave me reeling. It's like having the city I live in wiped out three times over. Please be in prayer for the victims and for the relief workers who are taking aid and helping to rebuild. Pray especially that the gospel will be shared as the love of Christ is demonstrated to "the least of these, My brethren." To donate to World Vision's tsunami fund, click the outside link. Thank you. ~ Mrs. Chancey

Quote of the Day
"When men have come to the edge of a precipice, it is the lover of life who has the spirit to leap backwards, and only the pessimist who continues to believe in progress." ~ G.K. Chesterton

Let's Remember Those in Hurricane-stricken Florida
Though hurricane season is now past, Floridians are still struggling to bring order out of the chaos. Friends in South Alabama and the Florida Panhandle tell us it's like a third-world country down there. What can we do?

"One-Woman Boycott" Plans Crusade on Checkout-Lane Smut
Jenna Brooks had to endure red tape and make many phone calls. But her persistence paid off when she finally convinced a Wal-Mart district manager to move racy magazines away from the checkout line to the back of the store in Derry, New Hampshire. [I'll admit it -- I haven't been this persistent with our local stores. This encourages me to keep talking to the managers. Pornography of any kind does not belong in stores within the reach of children and in sight of everyone. It may seem like a quixotic crusade, but if we don't say something, who will?]

Judges try to snatch homeschoolers
Germans who choose to homeschool their children are coming under increasing pressure from the state with some families escaping the European Union nation to keep from having their children taken from them. [It is possible to help these homeschoolers through a private donation fund -- and through prayer and calls to the German consulate in the U.S.]

What Can We Do?
Petition for Modesty!
18-year-old Emily Hansen invites you to petition stores to carry modest, beautiful clothing. She writes, "With high standards of modesty, I've gotten increasingly discouraged when shopping at clothing stores trying to find modest AND stylish clothing! A friend and I recently decided to act on this problem, and have written a petition to request that some of the more afforable clothing stores start carrying clothing that is classic and stylish, yet modest. We would like to get as many signatures as possible before contacting the companies we wish to make this request to. I'd really like to make it as widely known as possible."

Samaritan gives shoes to native Nigeria
Shoes were a luxury Emmanuel's parents couldn't afford. Thirteen in his family - eight children, two parents, two aunts, one uncle - shared a two-bedroom cinderblock house in the city. Emmanuel slept on a concrete floor until he was a teenager. After that, he graduated to sleeping on a wooden table. [This is a wonderful example of how just one family has been able to bless those less fortunate.]

Roe, Wade, Church Girl Pregnant -- Abortion?
Here was a young girl who had parents with difficult pasts. She herself was in a home with children from two previous marriages. All was not that stable even in their own home due to several other teens in rebellion against the parents' standards. Therefore, it would have been convenient for Christine to opt for an abortion. Some of her peers counseled her to "get rid of it." Yet she resisted their advice.

German Homeschoolers Under Attack
A LAF reader from Holland wrote us to ask that we share this information about homeschooling in Germany. The situation in Holland is no better. Here in America, while homeschooling may be regulated, we have been blessed with the great freedoms of educational choice and parental rights. We can use our influence and our financial support to help homeschoolers in Europe attain these much-desired freedoms.

What Can We Do?
“Field Guide” Bye-Bye
The mainstreaming of porn is nothing new. What outrages many parents is that Abercrombie is deliberately aiming its porn and damaging lifestyle advice, not at dirty old men, but at kids. [Just goes to show you that we can "vote" with our dollars even by threatening to withhold them.] Warning: Contains information about shocking practices. Not appropriate for young readers.
