Why Modern Motherhood is So Much Harder than it Ought to Be
All around me, young mothers are stretched, and stressed, and
struggling. Mommy burnout is rampant. And while, I’m sure that to some
extent, it’s always been hard to manage a house full of young children,
I also have a sneaking suspicion that it’s worse today, that the women
of modern generations face handicaps our foremothers didn’t have to. [From the author: "This article pins a fair share of the blame for 'Mommy Burnout' squarely where it belongs: on our post-Industrial Revolution, individualistic, away from the home society, and helps floundering women understand why their job is so hard sometimes." Editor's note: This is one of the best pieces we've had the privilege of posting in a long time. It gets to the heart of the matter with historical examples and modern application. Titus 2 women, we've got to step up to the plate and help these young wives and mothers; they aren't going to find the help and support in our me-focused culture.]

Me, a feminist?
If being a strong, capable, intelligent woman means being a feminist,
and being an anti-feminist means being a brainless weakling,
then
I suppose you could call me a feminist. But as far as I know, feminism
didn't monopolize feminine strength, talent, virtue and wisdom. All we need to do is look at what women are called to be.

Meet the pre-teen beauty addicts
At nine,
Bethany
doesn't 'feel right'
without fake tan. 11-year-old Belle waxes her legs. Karolina, 10, won't leave
home without scent. Harmless fun? Or proof of the insidious sexualisation of
our children? [This is sad reading. You have to wonder why parents don't just
say "no" and allow their girls to be, well, GIRLS.
Not for very
young readers.]

Feminism vs. Women's Rights
Very often, when people hear I stopped supporting feminism, they assume
I'm against women's rights. The reason of this misjudged concept is
automatically associating feminism with women's rights and benefits,
and everything that goes against it with oppression and belittling of
women which is imprecise, to say the least.

Thoughts about masculine leadership and feminism
In Genesis 3, Eve is told: "Your desire will be for your husband, and
he will rule over you". Notice that the word used here is "rule" not
"oppress", "beat into submission", or "boss around." Does it
mean her husband gets the better deal? No. Ruling means the husband is
responsible for the wife, her well-being and their family. The one who
rules is supposed to be wise, responsible, to take care of those who
submit to him.

Women in Information Technology: You Will Join Us Or...Something
To the barricades! InfoWorld is calling for action
to recruit and retain more women in information technology jobs. The
piece is not as bad as it might have been, but it contains some
assumptions that are as odd as they are unexamined. [This post comes to us from a LAF reader, who felt it would be of interest to others. It is a thoughtful discussion of the modern-day assumption that men and women
must be equally represented in all career fields in the name of fairness.]

Maternity leave 'damages' careers
Most of my readers already know what I think about trying to combine a full-time career with wifehood, homemaking and motherhood - one or another inevitably tends to suffer, and unfortunately it's the most important things we tend to stray away from - but this article was such a perfect example of how we can try to avoid reason and logic, even when they are banging at our door.

Celebrate Life
I wrote this poem to show the preciousness of human life in the womb. I wrote this in the context of my country, India, where an estimated 25 million babies are murdered every year. I am a regular visitor of your website, I thank God for your work and for speaking truth and defending Biblical values. ~ A. Pauldurai, Christian from India, father of two boys

The Biblical Portrait of Women: Setting the Record Straight
The Bible is, and has always been, a revolutionary book. It stands like a coastal rock cliff to resist the surging, crashing waves of cultural change. And there may be no clearer demonstration of the Bible’s immutable word than what it teaches about genuine femininity. [This is an excellent nutshell examination of how the Bible honors and values women. Anyone who believes LAF sees women as empty-headed doormats needs to read this article and understand just how highly the Bible (and Bible-believing Christians) treasure women.]

'Pill' causes breast cancer?
A new study from the Mayo Clinic has concluded that there is "a measurable and statistically significant" connection between the pill and pre-menopausal breast cancer, re-enforcing the recent classification of oral contraceptives as Type 1 carcinogens.

Feminism at Knox College: A Recent Graduate's Account
I have taken issue many times with the dominance of intolerant feminist organizations, operating under the authority imbued by “Women’s Studies” programs, which frequently control all academic thought and campus activities on colleges and universities in the name of "diversity." I became aware of this about five years ago when I visited my alma mater, Knox College. [No free speech on this campus, either. Not for young readers.]

Liberal Bias Rules UNM Law School
As a writer and frequent campus lecturer, I am accustomed to encountering activist professors. Nevertheless, when I visited the University of New Mexico Law School recently, I was taken aback by the political fervor of the faculty. [Christina Hoff-Sommers has done much to expose the left-wing bias on most university campuses. While we do not agree with or endorse many of her views as an equity feminist, we nevertheless appreciate her for exposing the anti-male, anti-family biases on and off campus.]

A New Path to Theological Liberalism?
Are American evangelicals charting a new path into theological liberalism? That is the serious question posed by Wayne A. Grudem in Evangelical Feminism: A New Path to Liberalism? This new book is one of the most urgently needed resources for evangelical Christianity, and it represents one of the most insightful and courageous theological works of our times.

Is This What Women Want?
A couple of days ago, when I entered my favorite online forum, I was puzzled to see a topic headline that said, "Women, Don't Get Married!" What is that? I asked myself. I knew many of the ladies who participated in the forum were happily married, others were still in search. Needless to say, I was surprised, but I decided to see what the chat really was about.

When It Comes to Truth, Radical Feminists Ms. the Mark
This Tuesday, October 10, the latest issue of the virulent, radical feminist rag Ms Magazine is scheduled to hit the newsstands containing over a thousand signatures of women publicly proclaiming that they have had at least one abortion with thousands more signatures found on the magazines website. In their typically euphemistic, distorted style, these feminists will depict this as simply shedding the shame of abortion from what they proclaim as a sacred right. However, make no mistake about it; this ploy is simply a pathetic propaganda plot to once again prop abortion up as some divine right critical to any efforts to enhance the integrity and position of women in our society. [Not for young readers.]
