Especially for the Unmarried
"Get Married" - Candice Watters's Bold Apologetic (Book Review)
When Candice Watters boldly declares that women need to get serious about marriage and pray for it to happen, it might seem a bit pie-in-the-sky to jaded women who’ve nearly given up. But Mrs. Watters doesn’t just cast the vision; she provides practical, biblical steps that single ladies can take in their quest to become a "Mrs."

Especially for the Unmarried
Why men don't court women anymore
It's a man's nature to win the woman's heart. Yes, I believe it still is, and if we act like ladies who need to be courted, we will attract those men who will treat us like princesses and remain our knights when they win our hand in marriage.

Biblical Womanhood and Christian Living
The Prodigal Father: Loving the Unrepentant Sinner
As Christians who serve this incredible God of love, we are called to be like Him, to forgive each other as we have been forgiven (Matt. 6:12, Luke 7:27-42). Moreover, we are to forgive anyone who asks us, not just once, but as often as they turn to us for forgiveness (Matt. 18:21-22). [This post contains some sensitive subject matter and is not for young readers.]

Personal Testimonies
Knights on Loan
Humbly accepting help can be a joyous thing. The reality is that we are all vulnerable, we all have our needy moments.... God has designed us that way. He wants us to be dependent on each other...He wants us to be real. [From the author: "I wrote this article about the difficulties of being a single mom, particularly when one is clueless in the science of home maintainance, and about the joys of being part of God's family of believers." Another fantastic piece from a wonderful blogger!]

Femininity & Modesty
How Low Can We Go?
A new national Web campaign that encourages young people to post striptease videos of themselves as a way of raising clothing donations for homeless youths has quickly run into a firestorm of protest from some of the groups it is supposed to benefit. [From a LAF reader: "Virgin Mobile is promoting a campaign called 'Strip2Clothe' where youth are encouraged to post videos of themselves stripping in order for certain charities to donate clothing to homeless youths throughout America. I would encourage those who are outraged by this campaign to join me in boycotting Virgin Mobile and its partners in the S2C campaign.]

Collecting
Back when I was in college fair isle sweaters were all the thing...you know the ones with the intricately knitted yokes? I loved those things. Can one lust after a sweater? If so, I lusted after those sweaters! I studied the ones I saw the other girls wearing. I wanted one . But I have a fatal flaw...I am a clothing snob. Not just any sweater would do. It had to be the right kind, from the right store.[From the author: "This article may be a but short for your use, but I thought I'd submit it anyway. It gives a different view of the "collecting" that we as women all love so dearly to do, and subtly and humorously poses the question of whether this is a Godly use of our time and resources." This is a wonderful piece that brought a smile to our faces!]

The Foundations of Truth
Liberty Revisited
There were many causes contributing to the collapse of our “ought” society. Of course, the most powerful one of all, and the one which in recent years has extensively eroded the public commitment to all standards of morality has been the ever-growing, relentless attack on the Christian religion. The morals and manners of piety, truthfulness, honesty, generosity, faithfulness, kindness, helpfulness, integrity and conscientious civic duty were aspects of the way of life of the Christians who settled America. Christendom wasn’t introduced to them in the New World. It simply described the civilization they brought with them.

Feminism and Related Issues
Feminism's Television Intrusion
Today's Christian women are bombarded by the effects of feminism, whether they realize it or not. Humorous sitcoms such as King of Queens , Everybody Loves Raymond , and Sex and the City are invading our marriages and thoughts. We become sucked into shows like Desperate Housewives , sitting on our couches intrigued by their lives, then horrified and stunned when a friend calls us to share her recent decision to leave her husband. If we can open our eyes to what the media is pulling us into, then we can prepare a counter-attack with God's Word and principles so we aren't left wondering how the humor of Hollywood' s divas became our marriage's destruction. Teach Your Children Well
Video Shot: Consuming Kids
Thanks again to Dean of The Available Light for posting another thought-provoking video clip--this one about how marketers seek to create the next generation of hyper-consumers. Parents, we are responsible for what goes into our children's minds and hearts. Passively allowing the consumer culture to dictate what is "necessary" for a happy life is not an option.

Hot Button Issues
Birth control deserves much closer study
The majority of people receive their information from the media. This leaves me with a grave concern for learning the truth. So for over 25 years, I have followed and researched the "birth-control" issues myself. The billions of dollars made from the sale of the pill and the power of the birth-control industry to lobby lawmakers and the media should make anyone with common sense cautious. [ Not for very young readers.]

Personal Testimonies
Being a Stay at Home Mom Was My First Career Choice
I decided to become a stay at home mother long before having children was even a thought for me.  I made the decision while still a child myself, because, even then,  I realized the importance of a mother being in the home to care for her own children.

Hot Button Issues
Motherhood a much better option than abortion
For those who believe in God, we believe that God gave us the freedom of choice. However, just because we have the ability to choose our own path does not mean it is OK to choose the wrong path. Those who label themselves pro-choice say it's about a woman's right to choose what happens to her body. But a woman already made that choice when she decided to have sex. [ Not for young readers.]

Teach Your Children Well
The High Price of Student Loans
As students and their families spend the summer trying to figure out how to cope with college costs in the fall, most will accept the ridiculously high prices as normal. Few will ask the prior question such expenditures ought to raise: Why is the price of education so outrageous?

Alexis de Tocqueville's View of American Women
Every now and then, I enjoy reading excerpts from de Tocqueville's marvelous work, Democracy in America I t would do us no harm to consider and understand the social arrangements of those who came before us. Perhaps, we will see some wisdom in their lifestyles.

Responsible Manhood
Pursue Her
This article isn't about fairytales. I bring them up only to highlight what I see as a growing problem in the church: young Christian men unable (or unwilling) to actively pursue a potential spouse. Rather than saddling up the proverbial steed, many guys seem to be languishing in the tower, waiting for their princesses to stumble upon them. If that's you, then I have some no-nonsense advice — it's time to man-up and take the lead in the romance department. And don't hide behind the whole too-holy-for-love façade. When you meet "the one," pursuing her with all your heart is the most spiritual thing you can possibly do.
